Meet Our Herd

Steele

Steele

Steele is Cara’s Arabian stallion that she trained to Grand Prix and earned her last score for her USDF Gold Medal with. She and Steele also earned a USEF FEI National Championship, National Reserve Championship in Grand Prix and countless National Top Tens and Regional Championships, Reserves and Top Fives.

Cara made the decision to retire Steele from the show ring when he was at the top of his game. They have been together for 20 years now and it is a joy to watch Steele be king of the farm in his spoiled retiree days.

Handsome

Handsome is Cara’s homemade baby and now her oldest at 24! He’s only about 55 days older than Steele.

He had an extremely successful show career garnering several Regional Championship and other titles. His career was cut short by a pasture injury to both front feet. He lives his life hanging out with his mares, Lyra and Nelly, and is defintely one of our family clowns.

Fiona

Fiona is Cara’s best girlfriend and is the sweetest, kindest girl. She thrives on hanging out with Cara daily. Fiona is schooled up to the FEI, but her show career is slow after a MFM diagnosis. As we learn to navigate MFM, they continue to train very carefully, play with liberty and trail ride. You will see a lot of her on Cara’s social media pages – they do a lot of fun things together and truly have an unbreakable bond.

Sunni

Sunni was purchased as a suckling in 2023 to be Cara’s next up and coming show horse. Since she’s still young, she and Cara are thoroughly enjoying liberty play and gentle ground work to build Sunni’s education for when her riding career really begins. She loves to learn, loves attention and thinks she’s ready for the Olympics. She’s a riot and we have thoroughly enjoyed watching her learn and grow over the last few years!

Lyra

Lyra came into our lives by pure luck and good timing. And Cara always says that purchasing her was one of the best decisions she ever made. She was purchased with dual, or maybe triple, purpose – as a school horse, for Cara’s kids and possibly to breed to Steele down the line. She’s proven to be a one person horse and much prefers building her relationship and confidence with Cara. One day she will be ready for the boys to really ride when the are old enough. For now, she enjoys giving them pony rides.

Nelly

Nelly is the most loving girl! She was purchased just 3 days before Lyra with the intentions of being a school horse. After getting her home, going slow and methodical in her training, Cara realized that something wasn’t quite right. Come to find out, she has a fractured front foot. While her riding career is pretty much out the window, she is a wonderful companion and friend. Cara plans to use her in the Stable Yoga Academy teaching modules as her steed for mounted yoga – this won’t require much from Nelly, but she will get lots of treats and scratches.

Jade

Jade is a retired race horse that Cara rescued in early 2015 to be a school horse for the Stetson Dressage Team when she became the team coach. Jade is 20 years old now a sweet big momma type. Fiona and Sunni have adopted her as their goofy, water trough swimming mom. She’s living the good life…and keeping us busy refilling the water troughs!
